Ans: The maharaja had a large no. of tigers in the forests in his kingdom, within ten years he killed seventy tigers. Then he married the princes from another state where he killed 29 more tigers.His Diwan presented the hundredth tiger before him. He took a careful aim and the tiger fell down. He went away thinking he had killed the tiger.

Ques. 1: Draw a Character sketch of the Tiger King.
Ans: The Maharaja of Pratibandpuram Known as the Tiger king was an intelligent and determined person his intelligent question when he was just an infant of 10 days came as a miracle to the astrologers when he he grew up he took a vow(outh) to kill hundred tigers and disprove the prediction. He was insensitive and ruthless person. In order to save himself he started on a massive tiger hunt. He killed 99 tigers and almost wiped out the whole Tiger population in the Forest of his Kingdom and the the nearby area. He was moody and whimsical. When the hundred Tiger could not be located he ordered the doubling of the land tax before that he had order a three-year exemption from all taxes for the villagers who had reported about the hundred Tiger. He had also Banned tiger hunting. He was a poor father as he had ignored his son till he had not killed the hundred tigers he was a poor and foolish ruler as he had proclaimed and vowed that he would attend to all the matters only after killing hundred Tiger. He was disrespect to his own employees like the chief astrologer and dewan. He was tactful in order to save his throne from the possible risk he sent 50 expensive diamond rings to the officers wife. Thus the tiger king was a brave, determined, moody and foolish ruler.
Ques. 2: The story is a satire on the conceit (cleverness) of those in power. How does the author employ the literary device of dramatic irony in the story?
Ans:The author has used dramatic irony in the story quite deftly. On the surface level, "The tiger king" seems to be a simple story about a royal prince's growth and exploits as a king. The prediction at his birth about the manner of his death makes the story interesting. There is an element surprise and suspense. This story is a satire on the conceit of those in power. The powerful people feel that they can change their fate and are above than God. When the chief astrologer tells that as the princess is born in the hour of the Bull and because the Bull and the tiger are enemies so a Tiger will be the cause of the death of the prince.It is seem that those in power have too much pride in themselves to such specimens in the story are the tiger king and the British officer the author employees dramatic irony and humour to show their faults and the weakness.The words of these character carry an extra meaning. They do not know what is going on to happen. The story tell us that Big Game Hunting was considered a royal sport the tiger king resolved to hunt and tigers disapprove the prediction. The Tiger hunt become and obsession for him. He postponed all the affairs of the state and married for the sake of tigers. The high-ranking officers is equally vain he is more interested in photograph with carcass then hunting itself. British officer is satisfied when his five is pleased. Thus the story exposes The fondness of persons in authority for hunting wild animals.

Ans: The Maharaja of Pratibandhapuram Sir Jilani Jung Jung Bahadur was called the tiger king at the time of his birth. The Astrologer declared that the prince would have to die one day the ten day old Prince asked The Astrologer to reveal the manner of his death the wise men were baffled at this miracle. The chief astrologer said that he was born in the hour of bull. The bull and the tiger are enemies .Therefore the death would come from Tiger he said that the prince would grows up become a great Warrior, a great hero, a great champion but would die one day when the prince become young he started his mission of killing 100 tiger with single-minded devotion he focused all his energy and attention to it. He vowed that he would attend to all other matters only after killing 100 tigers. With in 10 years the Maharaja was able to kill 70 tigers then the Tigers become extinct in his Kingdom the Maharaja decided to get married he ask his Dewan to draw up statistics of Tiger population in different native States he would marry a royal girl whose state had a large number of tigers. Dewan found the right girl each time he visited his father-in-law he killed five or six Tigers in this way he killed 29 tigers within a few days he was able to kill the the hundred Tiger. The Maharaja purchased a wooden Tiger for his son's birthday.A tiny particle pierced(making a hole) into Maharaja's right hand when he was playing with his son. Due to the infection an operation was performed. The operation was successful but the Maharaja passed away. In this way the hundredth Tiger took its final Revenge upon the tiger king.
